Hello All,

we've just bought an Ant and Kyle will be sailing at McCrae this season but will be looking for a crew. Please let us know if there and kids out there looking to crew on a regular basis. It would also be good to try and get a register going of an active Flying Ants here in Victoria to see if we can't get the local scene going again. Is there a local association?

Hi Jonathan,

I had a phone call from a gentleman from Victoria about a month ago interested in resurecting the victorian flying ant association. I believe this is happening and will try and source a contact for all you interested people.
A meeting was held at the 06/07 nationals in toronto NSW and it was identified that Victoria still has an account with a sum of money that would certainly go a long way to make this possible. There was also feedback that indicated that your state may be placing a bid for the National titles in the 08/09 season which i feel would be supported from the association.
I will try and make contact with you at some stage today or you can contact me on 0412898727.
cheers Todd

Hi Todd,

thanks for the info. Without getting too far ahead of ourselves, this might interest the national body if Victoria is being considered for the 08/09 nationals. I'm involved with the Australian Tasar Council and am a member at McCrae. McCrae happens to be hosting the 08/09 Tasar nationals over the Xmas/new year period. It would be a nice bit of synchronicity if the Ants could have their nationals there at the same time. I reckon the classes would compliment each other nicely. McCrae has a history with Flying Ants and I think there would be good support from the club.

Let me know if this idea has any merit and I'd be happy to do a bit of homework at this end.
