An exciting day at Fremantle Sailing Club, greeted by the chill of an early winter morning start. Sailors of all levels arrived, eager to get out on the water and learn a little more about the Flying Ant Skiff.
For those experiencing the ocean for the first time, the conditions were ideal. Light wind only peaked around 4-5knots and a small swell. The afternoon was not much better as the wind kept dropping out. This did not dampen the sailors spirits as they were all keen to get out and have some fun.
We had a very encouraging 9 boats on the water, with two more rigged but not sailed. This was great to see as it shows the interest is back in the class and the numbers are growing.
Thank you to Fremantle Sailing Club for hosting the event as well as all the parents who assisted cooking breakfast rolls and sausage sizzle, out on the water, helping sailors get in and out with light wind conditions. With your assistance it makes running these events a lot easier.
We encourage all to try and attend the next Winter Training day taking place at SOPYC on the 26th June 2016.
